Dell/EMC & Intel - Spectre & Meltdown - WHAT AN ABSOLUTE MESS!!!

Spectre & Meltdown - What a mess, what an absolute nightmare from a customer perspective - especially those enterprises that already spend a lifetime patching - and then have to suffer this stop/start message that their key vendors are giving...

It's an absolute disgrace.... and then there is the bit that really baits me.... Dell/EMC have DC's and test rigs coming out of their ears - with ability to generate workload and give feedback on stability, reliability and performance...

Do we get an meaningful impact at all - NOT AT ALL

At this point there are a few advisories, not detail and a hey - go give this thing a go, make sure your following good security practice and deploy carefully...


Dell / EMC - What the hell are you upto?? Where is your valued customer assistance.... Yesssss deploy it..Oh crap no... Dont deploy patch, oh yes you can now... Crap again - stop firmware has issues

Why are you not taking these patches, validating in your awesome labs of awesomeness and looking after your 1000's of customers and buffering them at least from intel... yes Intel - i know its your faults - but i dont buy my server compute farms from you - i buy them from a value add partner but oops where is the value add

And then i get onto my big big rant - all these nice integrated shiny appliances - where you are paying for the pre-integration, validation of build stack - where i expect even more to have valid tested build packs supplied in a timely manner that keep me safe... Think VxRack, VxRail, Isilon, VxBlock etc etc again - its the same horrendous mess



Do you not think its time to grab these approaches by the scruff of the neck - and (a) give decent information (b) help us through these minefields and (c) guide us as to when we should / should not deploy..
